Star-Crossed Lovers

All above images: Australian Ballet

This weekend has been all about Romeo & Juliet for me. Friday night I took my budding ballerina cousin (all of 12 years of age) to see Graeme Murphy's "Romeo & Juliet" for the Australian Ballet. It couldn't have been better timing as I had 2 scenes to perform this weekend as Juliet and the Australian Ballet left me not only mesmerised but most definitely inspired.

Each dancer captured the characters just how I've always imagined them. Romeo & Juliet were just beautiful but other stand outs were Mercutio, and Lord & Lady Capulet.

The costumes designed by Akira Isagowa were just stunning. The whole production from the dancing & characterisation to costumes and set, the music... everything, had me enthralled from beginning to end. Here is a video of the making of the costumes with Akira himself:

O that I were a glove upon that hand,
that I might touch that cheek!"

Christmas Greetings...

Lady dear, if Fairies may
For a moment lay aside
Cunning tricks and elfish play,
'Tis at happy Christmas-tide.

Where love is not, there must be laws

"Often times, when we occupy the space of 'I'm right and you're wrong' it keeps us from seeing our own responsibility in matters. When we judge others' foibles and personality traits, what does it really say about us? What can we do to identify and get rid of judgment in ourselves and in our lives?"

Anyone else subscribe to Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP newsletters? This recent newsletter on judgement really struck a chord with me. I've decided to make an early new year's resolution and to try my hardest to stop judging others. Elizabeth Mattis-Namgyel has some wonderful advice that I am going to try to constantly keep in mind, when she finds herself faced with a situation where it would be easy to simply judge a person, instead she tries to "remember at least two other qualities about the person whom I have just put in a box."

Have you started thinking of your new year's resolutions yet?
