Rachel Zoe: "I Die"

Super stylist, Rachel Zoe, has been photographed for Harpers Bazaar in a series of shots depicting her dying at the hands of designers Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Brian Atwood, Michael Kors & Calvin Klein.

Lucky for these designers, Rachel's catch phrase isn't "I'd kill..."

A sneaky Before and After

Being my first blog here I guess I should introduce myself.

Im Dann, the renovator, the mum 2 be that's renovating, the one who is now constantly asking herself - WHY did we get ourselves into this?

Today I thought I would give you all a look at my now finished bathroom.

But first we should start at the beginning......

12 months ago hubby and I bought our first home in Woonona on the South Coast of NSW. It needed a lot or should that be A LOT of work, but with hubby being a carpenter/builder we thought it was a challenge we could take on, and something that hubby could eventually use to showcase his work. Oh and it has amazing ocean views and is totally "that worst house, on the best street" kind of property.

Now I dont want to give away too much as there are loads more reno posts to come, but it sort of looked a little like this.

Its a palace isn't it? (and I dont mean that 2 storey mansion next door)

So after our wedding and relaxing honeymoon hubby and I got stuck into it and we are actually now living here (have been since May). Its looks completely different now. But lets start with the amazing bathroom transformation.

Before
It was so bad I could barely even bring myself to walk into the room. There wasn't even a toilet.

Now after knocking down/ replacing a few walls (well all of them) and deciding that we should actually turn the 3rd bedroom into the new downstairs bathroom.

Thats the bathroom door there. As you can see, we really started over.

Waterproofed and ready for the tiler to get in there.

We came up with this.

After
We still need to hang that amazing freedom mirror (only $169)

And our bath. A bargain at $200 from a good friend of hubby. Cast Iron 1.8m long and sooooo deep - I love it.

Yes this room is a massive 3.6 x 3.6m. But we thought with a soon to be growing family and that it will essentially be our main bathroom some space would be good. You have never heard anyone complain about a bathroom being too big now have you?

So stay tuned. There are loads more fun DIY things for you all to see. I promise I will try and update weekly from now on. Ill show you the shower next time. x x

Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival

Last night my sister & I checked out Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival. Here is a peek at some of the exciting designs we saw being strutted down the catwalk...
(although these aren't my photos. I was a little unsure as to whether I was allowed to whip out my camera in there or not!?)

I'm in love with the blazer above!

White Sands' Shipwrecked Range, due out September 2010, was just adorable.
There were some great pieces from Hussy's Metamorphosis range too!

I'm off for an afternoon nap now as I've spent all day at an audition & it was very physical, so I'm exhausted. Off to the Hussy Fashion TV Wrap Party tonight, should be fun...

L.O.V.E

The other day I was rummaging through my old jewellery boxes for something & I came across the sweetest little love letter from my husband that he wrote to me when he was 15 & and I was just 14. Yup, we were just babies! I remember everyone told us it was just "puppy love" and that we'd never last.... 15 years on...

Me & Hubby at his 50's Pin-Up Birthday Party this year

So today's post is all about the L.O.V.E

Rozelle Markets

Saturday was just beautiful & sunny. I can feel Winter coming to an end - yay! Hubby & I went to Rozelle Markets with a friend. For those who have never been there it's in Rozelle Public School on Darling St, Sydney, just near Balmain.

I love these markets, they aren't huge but always have great vintage finds. It's very much flea market style. Here are a couple of snaps I took with the i-phone...

I purchased this little wooden table, shabbily painted black with an old fashioned white number painted across the top. It was only $30!!  I couldn't get a good picture of it as my cat, Ruby, decided she loved it & wouldn't get off ha ha! I will take another picture soon when I decide where to put it in my apartment...

A Farewell

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine was great.. although... on Friday night I went out for farewell drinks for 2 very good friends of mine who are moving to Queensland :-(
We had such a great night and even caught up for breakfast the next morning, but I'm sad to see them leave.

(taken by my husband actually)

Luckily they're not moving overseas, but I still won't see them nearly as much as I did before. This post is a little reminder never to take friends & loved ones for granted.

Over the Top Studios

I recently found the blog Over the Top Studios and from there found the etsy shop for Over the Top Studios. I just had to share Amada's inventive creations with you. As you know, I very obviously have a thing for Alice in Wonderland, but I also happen to love everything Marie Antoinette. In fact, I really am just turning into a little Francophile to behonest.

Amada creates cake toppers, party hats, table decorations, trinket boxes and plenty more in the most creative fanciful ways you can possibly imagine. Check out my faves...

Don't you agree Amada's creations are just delightful? I love, love, love!

Inspiration for a Summer Afternoon Tea Party

So as I have already mentioned, I have a "special" birthday coming up in February... the big 3-oh! to be exact. I'm thinking a Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea Party. Now I know February is still a while away, but I've already started thinking about it. Here is some inspiration I found today...
